CLAVON LEONARD
Hello! I’m Clavon Leonard, and I love working with kids, teens, and young adults. My main goal is to make sure you feel heard, valued, and understood.
I’ve spent many years working with kids, teens, young adults, and families in schools and community programs. I’ve helped people deal with tough emotions, anxiety, anger, grief, self-esteem, friendships, family stress, and big life changes. I believe that behavior often shows what’s really going on inside, so I always try to understand the person, not just what others see.
I care deeply about supporting Black and Brown communities, especially Black men who might feel they have to be strong and keep things inside. In our sessions, being strong doesn’t mean staying silent. You can be open, ask for help, and still be the strong person you are.
You might have felt misunderstood or like people don’t really get what you’re going through. Maybe you’re used to keeping things inside or always acting strong because you feel you can’t show vulnerability. Therapy is a place where you don’t have to handle everything by yourself.
My approach is warm, supportive, relaxed, and straightforward. I want our sessions to be a place where you can be yourself, without worrying about saying the right thing or having all the answers. I’ll listen, support you, challenge you when needed, and work with you as you build confidence, notice your strengths, and find practical ways to handle life’s challenges.
I know that therapy isn’t the same for everyone. Each person has their own experiences, strengths, challenges, and goals, so I adjust my approach to fit you. What stays the same is my promise to support you and make sure you feel understood every step of the way.
When I work with kids, I’m happy to be playful and silly. Sometimes, children need to laugh and feel comfortable before they can talk about what’s going on. Honestly, adults need that too. I think there’s a place for humor in therapy, because even when things are tough, a little laughter can help us feel lighter.
You don’t need to have it all figured out before starting therapy. Just come as you are, and we’ll work out the next steps together.
