LILLY ZAUNBRECHER
Life can feel overwhelming when you’re navigating major changes, caring for someone you love, or trying to hold your family together through a difficult season. You don’t have to figure it all out on your own. I believe therapy should be a supportive, nonjudgmental space where you feel heard, understood, and comfortable being yourself.
I enjoy working with adolescents, young adults, parents, caregivers, and families experiencing anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, family conflict, parenting challenges, caregiver stress, and major life transitions. I have a particular passion for supporting parents and families coping with a child’s chronic, serious, or terminal illness, as well as foster and adoptive parents and adolescents whose lives have been impacted by foster care or adoption.
My professional experience has given me the opportunity to support youth involved in the juvenile justice system, adolescents and young adults in foster care through the Houston Pearls Foundation, and children and families navigating cancer and other serious medical conditions at Texas Children’s Hospital. These experiences have strengthened my understanding of the emotional toll that uncertainty, caregiving, trauma, and changes within a family can have on both children and adults.
My approach to therapy is warm, collaborative, person-centered, and strengths-based. Depending on your individual needs, I incorporate trauma-informed care, family-centered approaches, solution-focused therapy, CBT-informed strategies, and mindfulness techniques. I believe you are more than the challenges that brought you to therapy, and we will build upon the strengths and resilience you already have.
Whether you’re a young person trying to find your way, a parent worried about your child, or a caregiver who has spent so much time taking care of everyone else that you’ve forgotten to care for yourself, therapy can provide a place for you, too. Together, we can process difficult experiences, strengthen relationships, develop practical coping tools, and work toward meaningful and lasting change.
